Lunch, a squirrel, and a baby

To be honest, I am not NUTS About Squirrels as the name of this stamp set might suggest.
When I was 8 months pregnant with my second child I had some friends over for lunch.  It was so nice to visit that everyone stayed until late in the afternoon. I went into the kitchen to get more snacks and was very surprised to find a squirrel sitting on the counter helping himself...

*Scroll down for more of the story and to see the finished card

First, I embossed my card front with the timber embossing folder
Next, I used a blending brush to add Early Expresso ink to give the embossing more dimension
After that, I sponged the edges of the die cut and punched shapes and adhered them to the card front
Next, I stamped the squirrels and sentiment then adhered them to the front of the card
I then used the leaf die from the Sparkle of the Season bundle to cut out these super cute fall leaves
Despite my rocky relationship with squirrels, this card was fun to make and came out so cute!

Fortunately I was able to contain him until my husband came home from work.

When he arrived and my friends left we brainstormed how to get the squirrel out of the house.

It was decided that he would try to guide the squirrel out the front door with a broom.

A game of man, broom and squirrel ensued.  Finally my husband had the squirrel cornered in a bedroom...

The squirrel, feeling cornered made a beeline for an open window and hurled himself to the ground.  Surprisingly he survived the three story drop to the concrete below and took off like a rocket into the woods.

The excitement of the day left me anxious and exhausted. Around midnight I woke up to contractions and spent the next few hours pacing and laboring in my living room...

and that is the story of how I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl because I found a squirrel in my kitchen during lunch.
